Sheep / Dog Show
The show starts with an impressive working sheep dog demonstration by
our show presenter, rounding up the sheep in the fields and paddocks.
Our presenter skilfully works the dogs by whistle command and brings
the sheep up to visitors and into the pens, explaining how the dogs
are trained.
Next is drafting or sorting the sheep. We invite members of the
audience to work the drafting gates and sort the sheep into pens.
It looks easy but it's much harder when it's your turn!
Then on to sheep shearing. We follow the Standard New Zealand shearing
method. Our presenter gives an overview of the New Zealand wool industry
- full of fascinating facts and figures.
Finally our lambs rush in to be bottle fed - always a
highlight.
